Broken Trust…

“Something in you has taken some kind of hold on me. I don’t know why I keep coming back to you.”

“Keep Coming Back” by Richard Marx

It was with true joy that I blog about Broken Trust again since it has been a while…a frustrating and heartbreaking while. It is like not getting to visit friends that you love and you can’t forget about them, but you can’t quite get there. It is so infuriating to have these amazing characters and you really want the world to meet…Benjamin, the architect; Sam, the artist; Ali, the music store owner; and Vincent, the cop. You have these amazing characters and you have their story to tell and it’s…well, there’s something missing.

I have gone back to Broken Trust countless times, wanting to have the magic whispering of what the story is missing, feeling like the answer is right in front of me and 1000 miles away at the same time. Every single time I would look at it, I would just sigh and walk back to another project. I would keep looking back at my finished first draft of Broken Trust and Redeeming Trust; looking back longingly…knowing there was a story that needed to be told.

A couple of weeks ago I grabbed the drafts and a purple pen and a composition book (aren’t those amazing little things, no worry of pages falling out or anything) and I took a deep breath and opened the up my draft…and with slight shaping and tweaking, i am happily now 33 pages into the edit with no evidence of slowing down this time.

Broken Trust and Redeeming Trust are back on the “to be published” pile…they’re back, friends…Stay posted.

  1. I am in the brooding phase of my novel…maybe someday I’ll have a first draft to fret over! Thank you for sharing a bit of your process!

    • I have three published novels and love talking “shop” with other writers. If you ever want to chat…or brood, let me know!!

      • I noticed that when I looked you up! I will have to read them. My “to read” list has gotten a little low, and Christmas is coming!

      • Well you will have to let me know what you think. And I am serious about talking shop 🙂 if you ever want to.

      • I will definitely take you up on that! Probably after I read a few of your books so that I can form better questions. Every book is a learning experience! Thank you so much for taking the time to offer your wisdom.

  2. Good for you Michelle! And hopefully some/more unexplainable influences work to your favor during your progress. Sounds really interesting too. But I wouldn’t expect anything less from your books. ~ Mel
